AI WiFi Monitor Agent — ExComS.ai

AI WiFi Monitor Agent

Always-on coverage health for the building you already manage.

A lightweight passive agent on the laptops and mobiles already in your building. Continuous signal-strength readings build a live coverage dashboard, and you get a flag the moment any zone drops below your threshold — before users start raising tickets. Hosted on Azure UK South. Deployable via Microsoft Intune.

It works with any access point, regardless of brand. Privacy-respecting: signal-strength readings only, never browsing data or application traffic. Part of the AI WiFi family — sibling product: AI WiFi Survey Agent.

Use cases

Three ways IT operations teams use it

01 · Coverage health

Always-on coverage dashboard

See live coverage by floor, by zone, by hour. Spot the dead corner that your AP-vendor “all green” status page does not see — because APs measure themselves, not what users actually receive.

02 · Alerting

Threshold alerts before tickets land

Set the floor — say, −75 dBm in meeting rooms, −80 dBm in corridors — and get an email or Microsoft Teams ping when any zone slips. Beat the helpdesk to the problem.

03 · Audit & change

Before / after on every change

Did adding three new APs in the warehouse actually fix it? Did the Friday firmware push regress anything? Continuous data means every change has a verifiable before / after.

How it works

Three steps. Permanent visibility.

01

Deploy via Intune

Add the agent to your Microsoft Intune device profiles. Or push the MSI for Windows, APK for Android, IPA for iOS via your existing MDM. Mac and Linux supported.

02

Anchor the floor plan

Upload your floor plan once. The agent uses each device indoor location signals to anchor every reading. Live heatmap from the first hour.

03

Watch + alert

Live dashboard shows current coverage by floor and zone. Threshold rules send email or Microsoft Teams alerts the moment a zone slips. Weekly digest summarises what changed.

Built on UK infrastructure. Azure UK South — data stays UK-soil. Microsoft Intune-native — ships as a standard Intune-deployable agent for Windows, Mac, iOS, Android. Vendor-neutral — no AP controller integration. Privacy-respecting — signal-strength only, never browsing data or traffic capture.

How fast, how visible

From blind to always-on, in a deploy cycle.

Deploy time — existing-MDM customers can have the agent on every managed device in one Intune push, in under five minutes for typical fleets.

Continuous readings — every connected device contributes a sample every five minutes. No extra hardware. No walking required.

Threshold alerts — set the floor per zone. Get pinged via email or Microsoft Teams before users raise a ticket.

AP controller dashboards vs. AI WiFi Monitor Agent

Metric AP controller dashboard With AI WiFi Monitor Agent
What it measures What APs see (ceiling, full power) What users see (desk-level, real devices)
Coverage gaps surfaced Only AP outages Dead zones, weak corners, body-shadowing
Vendor lock-in Per-controller, per-vendor None — works across any AP fleet
Continuous baseline Live but AP-side only Live, user-side, every 5 minutes
Threshold alerts to Teams Vendor-specific, often paid add-on Email + Microsoft Teams native
Deployment Per-controller config One Intune push to all managed devices
Data residency Varies (often US-cloud) Azure UK South only

Frequently asked

Common questions.

What does the agent actually capture?

Per-device WiFi signal strength readings (RSSI), the BSSID the device is currently connected to, and the connection band (2.4 / 5 / 6 GHz). Nothing more. No browsing data, no application traffic, no content of any kind.

Will my users notice it running?

No. The agent is event-driven, samples every five minutes, and uses a negligible fraction of device resources. We benchmark CPU, memory, and battery impact on Windows, Mac, iOS, and Android in our pilot.

What about iOS limitations?

iOS restricts WiFi-scan APIs at the operating-system level — iOS captures the connected network only, not all detectable APs. We work within that limit; iOS data is included but contributes less than Android or laptop data. Android and Windows are the workhorses.

How is this different from what my AP controller already shows me?

Your AP controller shows you what APs see. The Monitor Agent shows you what users see. Those are different — APs sit on the ceiling at full power, users live at desk-level with body shadowing, walls, and weaker antennas. AP-side dashboards say “all green” when users are limping.

Where is my data stored?

Azure UK South. ICO-registered. DPIA-ready for institutional procurement. Sub-processor list public. You can export your data in standard formats and take it with you any time.

Can I deploy without Intune?

Yes. We ship MSI for Windows, .pkg for Mac, APK for Android (sideload or any MDM), and IPA for iOS via any MDM. Intune is just the smoothest path for Microsoft customers.

What is the difference between Monitor Agent and Survey Agent?

Survey Agent is a one-off walking-mode survey with a branded PDF deliverable — for IT consultancies and integrators selling a survey to a client. Monitor Agent is continuous in-building monitoring — for in-house IT teams who own the network and need ongoing visibility. Many teams use both.
